Teams and players
On Sunday 18 March, the Sydney Sailors and the Western Walers will take to the oval for the first time, to duke it out in the name of charity.
The overarching principle of team selection is to create a fun spectacle in the spirit of the Reclink Community Cup. The final score isn’t a consideration when the team lists are finalised.
Borrowing from the original Melbourne Community Cup event, the inaugural 2012 captains are Adam Spencer (Sydney Sailors) and Dan Sultan (Western Walers). These brave men, as well as a handful of diehard Melbourne Community Cup players, will come from near and far to be part of the inaugural match and they will bring with them a bit of that bottled game spirit from Melbourne to the Marrickville turf.
Team players are currently being recruited. The Reclink Community Cup is an inclusive event and anyone who is interested in taking part is welcome – this includes women! For more information on joining one of the teams or participating as support staff on the day, please contact Kim Carter at Rockstar Management kim@rockstar.net.au.
PS. At halftime, anyone can be one of the players. The kick-to-kick at the Reclink Community Cup is legendary – don’t forget to bring your Sherrin.
